Michael Jackson's Personally Owned & Worn Custom 1987 Pepsi Commercial Prototype Black Sequin Jacket Marked "Proto 2" & "002 MJJ 87" Signed From the Collection of Dr. Arnold Klein W/Letter of Provenance, Letter of Authenticity & Reference Photo - This custom made black sequin jacket was made for Michael Jackson, and is the epitome of his eccentric style.
The jacket is completely embellished with black sequins and finished with a buckle detail and gold rope around the right shoulder, Michael's signature red satin armband on the right arm and red satin cuffs. The jacket is also embellished with ten large gold buttons and a 2.5 rhinestone brooch on the left chest. The interior of the jacket is marked "002 MJJ 87" and "proto 2" hand written in silver ink and has no labels present. This stunning jacket is signed "Love Michael Jackson" on the armband.
The jacket was acquired from the collection of Dr. Arnold Klein, who was Michael Jackson's personal dermatologist and close friend for many years. The lot will be accompanied by a letter of provenance from Dr. Klein, who describes the piece (along with two other items), and states that the items once belonged to Michael Jackson and were given to him over the years, as he states "Michael was a very generous man almost to a fault".
The jacket will also come with a letter of authenticity from a previous employee of the beloved, late Bill Whitten, one of Michael Jackson's long time trusted designers, which states that the jacket might have been used or displayed in a Pepsi commercial in 1987.
