Louisville Cardinals Game Worn Used Football Helmet Signed Lamar Jackson JSA Ali

Here is a Louisville Cardinals Game Worn/Used Football helmet from the 2016 Louisville vs Florida State game that was also a tribute game to the late boxing icon and Louisville native Muhammad Ali. The game was played on September 17, 2016 at Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium between #2 Florida State and #10 Louisville on nationally televised College Game Day. The game was a highly anticipated showdown of two top 10 ranked teams and both teams going into week 3 with two Heisman hopefuls in Louisville QB Lamar Jackson and Florida State running back Dalvin Cook. Louisville delivered a brutal upset to Florida state with a score of 63-20 giving Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher one of the worst losses in his career. Lamar Jackson ended up becoming the 2016 Hesiman Trophy winner and the first and only recipient to win this award for the Louisville Cardinals.

Jackson was also the youngest winner of the award. The game paid tribute to Muhammad Ali who passed away in June of 2016. Alis widow Lonnie and son Asaad in attendance the school had a 30 foot painting of a butterfly into a patch of grass behind the endzone and Alis name, a nod to Alis signature quotation.

Players wore matching butterfly decals on their helmets. In addition, the words The Greatest. Was painted on the northwest corner of the end zones. It was by far the most talked about and stunning helmet in 2016. This game was also the debut of this red chrome helmet by Louisville and since has become their signature helmet especially for big games. It is a Game Used/Worn Riddell Speedflex in Red Chrome and is a size XL. It has a size large black Riddell Chin Strap, Adidas Eye Shield/Visor with white on black Adidas visor decals and the Predator Fang mouthguard. The front of the helmet has the red on black ACC decal on the front bumper and the rear bumper is the Louisville name in red on black. Also on the rear it has all the decals.

The most prominent is the Ali butterfly decal right in the center. The ACC decal, warning label and the chrome American Flag decal.

The helmet set up with the Adidas Visor and Predator Fang Mouthguard is identical to Louisville Running Back Brandon Radcliff. However, I can NOT confirm this helmet is his because all interior decals have been removed. No player number, no certification sticker and not even the size tags are still in the helmet.

In addition, the facemask is slightly different. It may have been used by another player, not Radcliff. However, I wanted to demonstrate that the same type of visor and mouthguard were used in this game. You can find game use under the helmet on the edge of the bottom of the rear bumper and the red chrome chipped on the rear of the helmet near the ACC decal. (see pic with arrows showing this).

Otherwise, it is in excellent condition! Since, I did not know which player actually wore it, I decided to add value to the helmet by having 2016 Heisman Trophy winner Lousiville QB Lamar Jackson autograph it when he was signing at the GTSM show in my area on March of 2018.

I have a picture of Jackson signing it (see pic) and it has been authenticated by JSA with a full letter of authentication. Cert # Z63532 and can be verified on the JSA website. JSA matching sticker is affixed to the back of the helmet. The autograph was penned beautifully by Lamar Jackson in silver paint pen.

He signed his name with his player #8 and inscribed it Heisman 16. We are a smoke free & pet free home. Game used items are a piece of sports history!
