An 18th century mahogany cased longcase clock, engraved brass dial signed'Jackson Bristol', Jacob Jackson recorded as working from 1798 to 1818 father of Joseph Jackson both clockmakers from Bristol , after 1838 they then became Jackson & Braham. The clock has a subsidiary seconds dial and date dial all working , twin train 8 day movement striking on a bell, the hood with broken swan neck pediment and carved decoration, cast brass rosettes and orb finial, the dial flanked by Corinthian columns, the trunk with quarter pilasters, full length door with cross banded edges, plinth base, with two weights and pendulum, 48.5 by 26 by 233.5cm high.
Height in inches 89 inches without finial 91 inches with the finial. The case comes with a door lock the movement has just been cleaned been checked relined and oiled. The dial has been re silvered back to its original condition using the same salt methods as they would have used all signed and with the bird and Tempus Fugit at the top of the dial all engraved. The case has been re polished and cleaned. Overall a very nice clock.
