This is a CLASSIC, Authentic style, 1969 Oakland Athletics Mitchell & Ness Jersey that I paid Reggie Jackson to autograph and inscribe at the Chicago Sun-Times Baseball card show on November 16, 1997. Needless to say, Reggie Jackson was a LEGEND. As you probably already know, Reggie has not always been pleasant to deal with. Maybe, he was having a bad day, but based on what I have heard, prior to and since, maybe that' just how he is. It's sort of sad though, when you meet a guy who you enjoyed watching and they have a grumpy ass attitude and they are getting PAID, and paid very well, to do the signings.Reggie inscribed underneath his name... I have attached 2 pictures of Reggie and I from the show. The first picture, he is listening to me as I tell him which inscriptions I would like on the jersey. In the 2nd photo, he is signing and inscribing the jersey.
I'm gonna keep the pictures for my own collection. You will get the Certificate of Authenticity from Mounted Memories, Inc.That I received from the signing. I picked the Oakland Athletics jersey vs.
The New York Yankees because you see a ton of the Yankees jersey's out there and they are sort of boring. I remembered visioning that 1969 Topps Reggie Jackson rookie card in my head. I liked the vest, it was different, so I wanted to add a signed Reggie Jackson A's vest to my collection. Originally, I was hoping to display this autographed jersey in my restaurant. Now, some 19-20 years after I get the jersey signed by Reggie, I'm really not any closer to owning that restaurant as I was in the late 1990's.
